Kalkan is an idyllic picture-postcard resort, built into the hillside of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, which tumbles majestically down to a picturesque harbour. Its winding cobbled streets, full of vibrant shops, roof-top restaurants and bars, combine with stunning views of the Taurus mountains and the azure-coloured sea, giving this resort a traditional yet sophisticated aura

During the day, Kalkan remains a sleepy fishing village, an easy-going resort where you can spend your time relaxing by the pool, chilling out at one of the beach clubs with their intimate sunbathing terraces cut into the hillside, lazing around on one of the gulet boats that leave the harbour each morning, or simply sitting in one of the harbour-side cafés sipping a long cool drink, watching the world go by…

In the evening, the streets come to life to create an undemanding atmospheric buzz. You can while away the hours in a blues or jazz bar or enjoy a delicious meal, watching the sun go down over the harbour in one of the many roof-top restaurants. The colourful shops sell everything from antiques to carpets and jewellery to spices and they stay open ‘til late so there's always time to catch up on your retail therapy!

For those of you who want to explore further afield, there is much to see and do. There are numerous historical sites to visit such as Tlos, Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara and Patara to name but a few. Or you could visit the bohemian, laid back town of Kas or the picturesque bazaar area in Fethiye and neighbouring Olu Deniz with its famous tear-drop beach. For the more energetic, how about scuba diving in the clear warm waters, paragliding from Mount Babadag, white-water rafting down the Dalaman river or pony-trekking along the 18 km long white sands of Patara beach…

However you decide to spend your holiday, you'll want to come back time and time again…
